Lily Leaves is a non-profit social enterprise founded by Lily Katuwal. The organization focuses on empowering women, protecting the environment, and providing educational support. One of their notable initiatives was the delivery of school backpacks to 774 students and sanitary pads to 500 students at a school in the Siraha District of southern Nepal. These items were produced by vulnerable women working at Lily Leaves in Kathmandu and were funded by supporters of Pipal Tree, another organization that played a role in establishing Lily Leaves. The backpacks and sanitary pads were distributed free of charge to the school, benefiting the students and promoting access to education.
In a delightful surprise, Lily was joined by Santosh Shah, a former student of the school and winner of BBC's MasterChef. Santosh Shah's presence served as an inspiration to the children, demonstrating that they too can achieve success with the right educational support. This collaboration between Lily Leaves and Santosh Shah highlights the positive impact that individuals can have on their communities, encouraging the children to pursue their dreams.
